Venezuelan Jefferson Savarino returns to Brazilian football to sign with Botafogo,
for more than 13 million reais (2.6 million
dollars), according to the South American giant's sports media.
“Thank God for this opportunity. I chose Botafogo because of
the project they have been working on for several years. They did
everything they could to bring me here,” Savarino said after arriving in Rio de Janeiro.
With this contract, the Venezuelan, who shone at Atlético
Mineiro, became the second most expensive signing in the club's history. With
his first team in the country, he won the Brazilian Championship and the Brazil Cup in
2021, among other titles.
“I always look at my social
networks and have had a lot of support since Botafogo contacted me,” he said shortly after landing
at Galeão International Airport, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
