The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Thursday the receipt of the certificate of registration of Joropo as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

From the San Carlos Barracks, in Caracas, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, was in charge of receiving this important recognition together with lovers of the Homeland.

“Last week Venezuela had a world grand prize, an international grand prize, great recognition. This was truly global recognition. In addition, truly deserved. Because Venezuela's Joropo Llanero was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (...) The official certificate from UNESCO is coming directly,” said the head of state.

In a presidential pass, Minister Villegas delivered a copy of the certificate. “The file was approved on the 201 anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, so that with the strength of Carabobo and with the strength of Ayacucho, now the Venezuelan Joropo is an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” he said.
