Nearly 1,000 visitors received the National Astronomical Observatory (OAN) of Venezuela, located in Llano del Hato, Rangel municipality in the state of Mérida, during the Easter season 2025.

Children, young people and adults from the Andean region and from various states of the country were welcomed by the disseminators and scientific disseminators of the Francisco J. Duarte Astronomy Research Center Foundation (CIDA), attached to the OAN.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology, in these facilities, they had the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of astronomy, participating in guided tours and observations of the night sky.

Maricela Rivas, guide supervisor at the OAN, valued the interest of visitors in expanding their knowledge in astronomy.

“They asked questions about asteroid 2024 YR4, the Lyrids meteor shower, black holes, the tallest observatories, the scientific work being done at the OAN, among other topics,” Rivas said.

For his part, Nomar Villa reiterated that the CIDA Foundation continues to open its doors to Venezuelans and foreigners, convinced of the need to continue promoting scientific dissemination as directed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

“We are promoting interest in science in these spaces,” he said.
