Venezuelan researchers make progress in the study of astroparticles in Mérida

The Venezuelan Andes are positioned as the epicenter of the country's scientific and technological knowledge with the installation of a Cherenkov water detector (WCD), in Llano del Hato, Mérida.

This was stated by the Minister of Science and Technology (MINCYT), Yván Gil, who indicated that this is carried out by a multidisciplinary team of national and international specialists who share the vision of promoting astroparticle research.

“We had the honor of taking a tour of the Francisco J. Duarte Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Technologies Foundation (CIDATA), where we were able to see first-hand its facilities, equipment and the valuable work of its researchers and staff. This outstanding institution is the only one in the country specialized in astronomy, astrophysics and space sciences, playing a fundamental role in the advancement of knowledge in these areas,” Gil said in a message published on his Telegram channel.
