Venezuelan sprinter Kelvis Padrino at the top of the South American ranking

The Venezuelan sprinter Kelvis Padrino is at the top of the South American ranking in the 400 meters flat after taking first place in the 1st National Athletics Evaluation.
Padrino came first with a time of 46.01, followed by Javier Gómez with 46.59 and Jerfran Flores with 47.55.
“I came with high expectations to this competition. I expected to run 45, we were very close, but this brand also shows that I am in excellent condition for what is coming,” said the Venezuelan, according to a press release from the Ministry of Sport.
The record won by Padrino allowed him to climb to the top of the South American ranking over his Brazilian rivals Jadson Soares Lima (46.74) and Lucas Carvalho (46.98).
For his part, in the 100 meters flat, the leaders were Beynailis Romero, for the ladies, and Bryant Álamo for the gentlemen.
Romero overcame the distance with a mark of 11.82, and was closely escorted by Orihana Guzmán (11.83) and Glanyernis Guerra (11.90). While Álamo claimed the leadership of the hectometer with a time of 10.43, it was followed by Alexis Nieves (10.53) and Ángel Alvarado (10.60).
In field tests, Yenniver Veroes achieved his personal best with an attempt of 62.40 meters.
In the long jump, Ornelis Ortiz did the same with an impulse of 6.22 meters. Meanwhile, in the men's section, it was Santiago Cova who won the race with 7.66 meters.
Other winners were Ibeyis Romero in the 400m (55.43); in the 1500 flat meters Camila Hernandez (4:40.37) and Sebastián López (3:48.81).
Another highlight was the completion of the mixed 4×100 meter relay, a test that will be part of the athletics program starting in 2026; it was led by the quartet formed by Ángel Alvarado, Rafael Vásquez, Judith Arraiz and Glayernis Guerra.
