Venezuela's top women's volleyball team will debut against Colombia in the South American Cup

The Venezuelan women's national volleyball team is ready to face the South American Cup of the discipline that will be played from 22 to 26, at the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum in San Borja de Lima, Peru.
The cup will award four places for the South American Championship, which will be held in September in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and which will grant the champion direct qualification to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
The South American Cup includes the participation of eight regional teams that are divided into two groups for the elimination round.
The national team is in Group B together with Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, while in Group A there are Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and Peru.
The tournament starts in a round-robin format, and the two best teams in each group will advance to the semifinals on the 25th, while the final will be on the 26th.
The team is led by captain Winderlys Medina, from CD Heidelberg in Spain; young lifters Sofía Carucci, who played with Peru's Cazoku in her first international experience in 2026; and Diana Paredes, champion of the National Volleyball League 2026.
The central area includes Meriyen Cerrano, with extensive experience in different international leagues; Isabella Sibada, champion of the National League 2026; Alejandra Argüello, member of Club Kairos de Portugal in 2026; and Isabel Fernández, of the Athletic Club Atenea of Peru.
On the other hand, the opposing positions stand out: Mariángel Méndez, with experience in the first Spanish division, Mariángel Vivas, from the Spanish Olympic team; and Raybeth Artiga, from Rebasa Acosta, from the Peruvian league.
They complete the list of the national team, the free Asly Antivero, with a past in the Hungarian Fatum; and the opposing Juliennis Regalado, from Leganés from Spain; María Suárez , from JS Palma from Spain; and Gabriela Noguera.
The Venezuelan team debuts this Wednesday, July 22 at 6:45 p.m. against Colombia; on Thursday at 4:45 p.m., they will face Argentina, and the elimination round ends on Friday at 11:45 a.m. against Ecuador.
