The
Executive Vice President and Minister of the People's Power of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez,
participated this Tuesday, virtually, in the African Energy Week
2025, which is being held in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 30 to October 3.
During his
speech, Rodríguez highlighted that Africa represents 7.8% of the world's energy
reserves and 8% of daily oil production. “This
event is very important for dialogue between investors,
business sectors, government sectors, the private sector and the public, who
are on a single path to strengthening the energy capacities of
Africa and our countries.”
In this regard, he praised the role of Africa in global
energy markets, “not only at this time, but also the role
that Africa will play in the future”. However, he criticized the energy inequality
between the global north and the south.
“We cannot have a global north and a global south with such marked, deep
gaps, marking energy inequality,” he emphasized.
