The second vice-president of the Spanish Government, Yolanda Díaz, recognized this Monday the results of the presidential elections held in Venezuela, which give irreversible victory to the current head of state, Nicolás Maduro, for the period 2025-2031.

At a press conference, when asked about the Venezuelan electoral process, Díaz said that recognition “is what we democrats do,” and referring to complaints from extremist opposition sectors about alleged fraud, she called for “transparency”.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela announced that the candidate of the revolutionary forces, Nicolás Maduro, obtained more than 51% of the votes in the electoral process, with more than seven percentage points above the representative of the extreme right, Edmundo González Urrutia.
