The Vice President
of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed that the
Economic Emergency Decree issued by President Nicolás Maduro is to protect Venezuelan production in the face
of the trade war that the United States seeks to impose on the world.
“The signing
of this decree is a preventive action, to guarantee, defend and
accompany national production,” said the National Assembly during
the presentation of the Economic
Emergency Decree.
He reaffirmed
that it seeks to protect the consecutive growth of five
consecutive years of production for domestic supply. “President
Maduro has signed this decree to protect that this process does not deviate, to
ensure that domestic production continues its course, to have policies that further
boost the performance of domestic production, the performance of the national
industry, to have correct policies aimed at public purchasing, where correct tax and fiscal policies
are guaranteed in the
direction of guaranteeing economic growth with equality and social justice,” he emphasized.
He also pointed out that it will allow President Maduro to direct the reins of the economy as he has done in the face of the disturbances driven by frenetic Venezuelan fascist extremism to disrupt the country's exchange rate and economic stability.
“This decree is to be able to make agile decisions in the face of
situations that impact and affect the good development of the economy of
trade and finance,” he said and noted that it will also serve to have agile
policies regarding exports and the prices of goods and services of the People.
“It is a declaration of economic emergency to be able to
guarantee the national effort that we have all made during these
last few years that we have begun to follow the path of
economic recovery, that national effort that is truly guaranteed protected by
this Decree of Economic Emergency, where President Maduro holds the
reins of the economy and knows, in the face of every difficulty that arises, he knows the
path we must take as a country and as a nation, always based on what in the
national union,” he said.
For this reason, I support the President's call for the People to join in national union to support this decree and “we can follow a victorious course in the face of the worst of difficulties”.
