The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, indicated that Venezuela maintains its firm position of respect for international legality, “and what follows is the Geneva Agreement, it is the only way”, referring to the next actions regarding the legitimate claim of sovereignty over Essequiba Guiana.
The approach was made by Rodríguez, during a telephone contact from The Hague with the program “With Maduro +”, conducted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, where he detailed the actions taken this Monday by the Venezuelan delegation before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
“We have provided more than 40 maps showing that it is very clear that this territory, since the birth of Venezuela, belonged only to Venezuela, that Great Britain, that the British Empire never had a title.”
“We have brought the historical truth from Venezuela, we really feel very happy to have dismantled lie by lie in this writing, where Venezuela has a very solid position,” he said.
He reiterated that “the British Empire never had a title, in fact in its historical tradition of cowardly piracy, of looting other countries, into incursions to steal Venezuela's gold.”
For his part, the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, stated that Venezuela “is defending its truth, a solid historical truth, we are not taking anything away from anyone.”
“We are reclaiming our territory from dispossession and fraud. Venezuela went with the maps, the titles, the evidence, to officially register them before the International Court of Justice,” he said.
