Violence in the US: Several dead and injured reported in a shooting in Mississippi

A violent incident in the American city of Leland, Mississippi, left four dead and a dozen injured, according to US media reports.

The incident occurred around midnight on a downtown street, according to Mayor John Lee. Four victims were taken by helicopter to regional health centers.

So far, authorities have not announced any arrests in the case. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Mississippi Research Department, RT reported.

The attack occurred during a school reception, which coincided with an American football game between Leland and Charleston high schools. Attendance at the event increased the influx of people in the area, which may have eased the attack. Local legislators have said that the total number of victims could rise to 20.
