The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom
Gebreyesus, reported that 21 patients have died in the hospital, Al-Shifa, the
largest in Gaza, as a result of shelling by the Israeli regime.
In this regard, Adhanom reported through the social network X that
“hostilities continue around the hospital (...) food is
restricted to the extreme, potentially threatening the lives of
diabetic patients whose condition is worsening”.
He also explained that more than 100 patients, including four children and 28 others
in critical condition, who were trapped inside the medical center “many
have infected wounds and suffer from dehydration.”
According to the website of the
Xinhua news agency, the WHO urged Israel to provide access and a humanitarian corridor in order
to transfer and save patients' lives.
