The Venezuelan archery team secured two individual spots for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026, in the women's recurve and men's composite modalities.
Venezuela won both places in the qualifier for the sports discipline held last from June 18 to 22 in the same capital of the Dominican Republic, where a total of 116 competitors from 13 countries in the region came together.
The tournament awarded 64 places to the four best placed countries by modality.
The Venezuelan Daniela Chacón won the gold medal after defeating the Panamanian Gisela Cowan Chang (7-3) in the women's recurve modality.
In the quarterfinals he beat his compatriot Wuileimy Labastida 4-6. While in the semifinal phase she beat Puerto Rican Nilka Cotto Valentín 0-6.
The second medal for the national team was won by goalkeeper Diego Camacho, winner of the final round for the bronze medal against Costa Rica's Jarod González (144-143).
The first two places were won by Jean Latorre, from Puerto Rico (146) and Joseph González, from Costa Rica (145).
