The President of China, Xi Jinping, condemned the military aggression of the United States (USA) against Venezuela on Monday, describing the action as a strategy of “unilateral intimidation”, which directly threatens global stability.
During a meeting in Beijing with the Prime Minister of Ireland, Micheál Martin, the Chinese president indicated that American aggression is unprecedented, also referring to the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro, Radio Miraflores reports.
“Today's world is experiencing turmoil not seen in a century. Unilateral acts of hegemony seriously undermine the international order,” he said.
In that regard, he emphasized that the great powers have a moral obligation to “set an example” in complying with the Charter of the United Nations, demanding that the sovereignty of Venezuela and the will of its people be respected without external interference.
“All countries must respect the paths of development chosen independently by the peoples of other nations, comply with international law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter; and the great powers, in particular, must set an example in this regard,” he stressed.
