Under the sporting spirit of the working class of Ciudad Guayana, characterized by fraternity, healthy competition and overwhelming enthusiasm, the sporting flame that marked the beginning of the XLIV Intercompany Sports Games of Guayana 2025 was officially ignited.
The opening ceremony, held at the CVG Venalum Sports Center, brought together more than 8,600 workers, both active and retired, as well as 49 participating companies. In addition, it included the musical performance of the Berejú and Afro Criollo Folkloric Group, according to the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG).
During the event, the Minister of Ecological Mining Development and president of the CVG, Héctor Silva; the governor of the state of Bolivar, Yulisbeth García; the mayor of the Caroní municipality, Yanny Alonzo; other authorities from the CVG and the mining sector, sports delegations and families of the athletes were present.
The governor of the state of Bolívar, Yulisbeth García, stated that “this means the Guayanese family, the family with the great potentialities of which the Bolivar state is made. These games represent family, love, reunion. Each one of you placed a drop of love in this expression, to fill us today, on a different day.”
For his part, the president of the CVG and minister Héctor Silva stressed that Guyana continues to consolidate itself as the productive heart of the country. “In this blessed land, steel is forged, aluminum is transformed and the development of our country is built,” he said.
He stressed that the region not only represents industrial power, but also passion, discipline and commitment. “The qualities we see every day in our companies and offices are the same as those that bring us together today on this playing field,” he said.
In addition, the president of the CVG dedicated a special message to retirees. He noted that “his steps, his discipline and his example have built the foundations on which we continue to grow today. You are the living memory of Guiana, and your participation reaffirms the permanent recognition given to you by our people.”
The highlight came with the entry of the torch and the lighting of the cauldron, a symbol of the beginning of competition and the perpetuation of the spirit of inter-business sportsmanship.
The games promote sports and strengthen teamwork, promoting a healthy lifestyle and boosting interpersonal relationships between colleagues in the Venezuelan working class.
They are an opportunity for personal and group development and improvement, which reflects the company's commitment to its workers, providing them with healthy leisure through sports competitions. These games promise days of intense activity with 27 disciplines, strengthening not only athletic abilities but also the bonds of integration and unity.
