Yanys Agüero was sworn in as the new mayor of the Iribarren municipality, after being victorious in the municipal elections of July 27.
The event took place near the Obelisk of Barquisimeto, Lara state, where José Luis Ortega was also sworn in as president of the Municipal Council; Yanira Villanueva, in the first Vice Presidency; Juan Carlos Camacaro, in the second Vice Presidency; and Sinaí Sánchez, Secretary General.
The Extraordinary Session was attended by Governor Luis Reyes Reyes, the outgoing mayor of Iribarren, Luis Jonás Reyes, deputies to the National Assembly, Social Movements and hundreds of Barquisimetans who gathered to accompany the new local president at the beginning of his administration.
The new mayor reaffirmed his commitment to the integral development of the municipality and emphasized that he will work hard to strengthen public services, local economic promotion and the active participation of communities, according to a press release from the Government of Lara.
“It is up to us to continue working for the population; I am grateful for the faith and trust placed in me, I promise you that this oath will not be in vain, it is my responsibility to make the necessary commitments to build a future of peace and prosperity,” said Agüero.
