Yemen's air defense shot down an American-made MQ-9 drone this Wednesday, January 1st, the second in less than 72 hours.
According to Telesur, the aircraft was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of the province of Marib, in the center-west of the country. It was shot down with a Yemenian-made sure-to-air missile.
The Yemeni military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sari, confirmed the shooting down of the aircraft, which is the 14th neutralized during military operations in support of the Palestinian resistance and in rejection of the Zionist siege against the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the spokesperson stated that this action responds to the Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people, perpetrated with the complicity of the United States and the United Kingdom. He stressed that the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue their operations in support of Gaza. He made it clear that these will only end when the Zionist entity ends its military offensive against Palestinian territory and lifts the blockade on food, water, medicine, fuel and other basic products.
On December 28, Yemen shot down another American drone of this model, while carrying out hostile operations in the airspace of the province of Al-Bayda. This drone costs more than 30 million dollars. It is used in surveillance operations, but it can carry missiles and has been used to carry out bombings. Its use in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria is documented.
