The Venezuelan boxer, Yonaiber Flores, secured his participation in the 50-kilogram final by beating Jairo Arias, representative of Mexico, by a split decision (4-1) as part of the Copa América for Youth and Adult Boxing that takes place in Ibagué, Colombia. With this result, he became the first place finisher in the national delegation to the final round and guaranteed the first medal for Venezuela.

During the days of July 14 and 15, Venezuelan athletes advanced in different divisions after overcoming their opponents in single-elimination matches.

In the women's category, Stefanny Castillo (51 kg) beat Aylin Sigala (Mexico) by CSR and Edmar Muñoz (57 kg) beat Bianca Bustamante (Colombia) 4-1 by split decision. For men, Christopher Rojas (50 kg) won a CSR victory against Kevin Bedoya (Colombia), qualifying for the semifinals.

In the elite category, Diego Pereyra (80 kg) won the KO victory against Jonathan Méndez (Mexico), while Lisandro Tejada (70 kg) beat José Viafara (Colombia) with a score of 4-1, advancing to the medal contest.

For his part, Krisandy Ríos (60 kg) dominated Leslye Hernández (Mexico) with a unanimous decision 5-0 and Wilson Solórzano (55 kg) defeated Sergio Devia (Colombia) 4-1, also entering the semifinals.

According to what was published on the website of the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports, the Venezuelan team, made up of young talents and experienced athletes, is making firm progress on its Olympic route to Los Angeles 2028, in this edition of the continental tournament under the endorsement of World Boxing.
