The Venezuelan athletics delegation that will compete in the Tokyo 2025 Open Air World Championship will be led by established figures and emerging talents, the Ministry for Sports said in a press release.

The return of six-time world champion Yulimar Rojas marks one of the most anticipated moments of the competition. The Olympic athlete returns to the triple jump pit after 723 days of absence, since her last official participation in the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League in 2023. Rojas will seek to win his seventh world crown and fourth in open air championships, after his victory in Budapest 2023 with a jump of 15.08 meters.

For his part, the young Ricardo Montes de Oca will make his debut in the absolute pole vault category. The champion of the Junior Pan American Games, with a mark of 5.45 meters, will face the world elite for the first time, including the Swedish Armand Duplantis, the current record holder of the discipline.

Also joining Leodan Torrealba, who will compete for the second time in a world cup. The Venezuelan will seek to overcome the tenth place obtained in Budapest 2023, where he recorded a jump of 16.53 meters. Torrealba arrives in Tokyo with a personal record of 16.90 meters, the current national record.

Runner Magaly Garcia completes the national team. Ranked 88th in the women's marathon, Garcia will debut in this joust with a best record of 2:36.54 this season.

The Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships will be held from September 13 to 21, and Venezuela presents itself with a delegation that combines trajectory, youth and ambition.
