Venezuela is heading for a new phase to significantly increase its productive capacity and especially with regard to seed production, said the Minister of Science and Technology, Yván Gil.

“We are going to a new stage, not only in seed multiplication. Attention, producers, producers, the potato industry, we are going to definitely replace imports, technological dependence with this technology, and we are also going to make progress in genetic improvement,” said the minister during a visit to the facilities of the Biotechnology Center for Training in the Production of Agamic Seeds (CEBISA), located in the Rangel municipality of the state of Mérida.

In this regard, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), he highlighted the existing high-tech capacities in CEBISA and the institutional coordination to promote these productive processes, while recognizing the scientific work carried out by the center's technologists, workers and producers.

“We call on all producers in the country to join this policy, which is decisively aimed at consolidating our nation's agricultural sovereignty,” he said.
