This Friday, the electric company, Zesco
Limited, from Zambia reported that it will begin an eight-hour daily
power cut due to low water levels caused by the drought.
“This decision comes after
a careful analysis of the current national energy situation, which shows a
serious energy deficit caused by low water levels,” said
Victor Mapani, the company's managing director, at a press conference.
In this regard, he indicated that the
power company is committed to working diligently to address challenges
and restore normal electricity supply “as soon as
possible.”
According to what was published by the Xinhua web portal, the electricity supply cutback schedule will begin next Monday.
