From Paraguaipoa in the state of Zulia, the candidate of the Venezuelan revolutionary
forces, Nicolás Maduro, exalted this Friday the
courage and resistance of the country's indigenous peoples, who were able to transcend history.
In the midst of a massive rally, the
Bolivarian leader thanked the people of Paraguaipoa for their welcome and sent greetings to the peoples of Alta Guajira, “from La Guajira, from Sinamaica,
to the Guajira youth (...) Their culture, their identity, their spirituality are an example for the whole of America of how a courageous people resist,” he said.
He highlighted the pride that native peoples feel in their
history of struggle and criticized the attacks of extremism. “I am Indian and I can
say it before the racist oligarchy, before the racist right, of course, I
feel like a hard-armed Indian president, better known as the Pinto Rooster of the People,” he said.
