471 refugees arrive in the United Kingdom after crossing the English Channel

One week after the death of four people during a journey across the English Channel to the United Kingdom, 471 new refugees were reported to arrive in just 24 hours on Monday.

According to the weekly record of the British Home Office, 471 people arrived in their territory on Saturday in nine small boats, while 142 people arrived the day before in two ships.

A representative of the ministerial portfolio stated that London is “moving forward” and “reinforcing” its staff, making it clear that “we all want to put an end to dangerous small boat crossings, which threaten life and undermine our border security”.

This year it rose to 27,225, the number of refugees who represent 5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year (25,931); however, 25 percent less than in 2022 with 36,491 arrivals.
