The floods recorded in Afghanistan since the end of March left 179 dead and 238 injured, according to the official balance sheet of the National Disaster Management Authority.

The phenomenon affects 13 provinces with severe impacts in rural and urban areas, according to a press release from Últimas Noticias.

Technical reports indicate the destruction of nearly 9,000 homes and the loss of more than 3,700 hectares of crops.

Authorities also confirmed damage to 378 kilometers of roads, limiting access to isolated communities and delaying rescue operations.

The agency's spokesman, Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, said that terrestrial connectivity remains compromised while local teams try to re-establish routes and move basic supplies.

The humanitarian situation is aggravated by the reduction in international cooperation and the logistical difficulties in assisting affected families.

In the last 48 hours, 22 new deaths were recorded, while thousands of people remain without resources after losing homes, livestock and means of agricultural production.
