The African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has formally proposed the creation of a Continental Support Team for Ebola Incident Management, in order to strengthen the health response to outbreaks in Uganda. The initiative was presented directly to President Yoweri Museveni during an official audience in Entebbe, underlining the urgency of coordinated action at the regional level.

The main objective of this team is to strengthen surveillance, monitoring and technical response protocols against the disease. By centralizing incident management efforts, the Africa CDC seeks to optimize the operational capacity of health authorities, ensuring a more agile and effective intervention in containing the virus.

This proposal seeks to transform the response to health crises through the unification of criteria and the exchange of specialized resources between member States. The measure responds to the need to implement public health strategies that transcend national borders, promoting fundamental mutual cooperation to safeguard the health stability of the entire African continent.

With this action, the Africa CDC reaffirms its leadership in coordinating emergencies and its commitment to epidemiological safety in Africa. The implementation of this support team is expected to act as a strategic pillar in early detection, allowing for more efficient control of potential outbreaks and ultimately protecting the health of the most vulnerable populations.
