The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a telephone conversation this Thursday with the president of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, to strengthen ties of brotherhood between Venezuela and the continental bloc.
“During this dialogue, we express the gratitude of the Bolivarian Government for the firm stance of the African bloc in defense of international law, the UN Charter and its rejection of the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores,” the Venezuelan Foreign Minister explained on his social networks.
He also noted that the African leader transmitted a message of solidarity to the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, “and to the struggle of the Venezuelan people for the liberation and return of their leaders and heroes”, following the armed aggression perpetrated by the United States (USA) on January 3.
Finally, they reiterated the friendship between the Latin American nation and the AU, “based on mutual respect, cooperation and diplomacy, and we express our willingness to continue strengthening South-South unity and promoting a multipolar world.”
