The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) expresses its strongest, most categorical and frontal condemnation of the new colonialist threat issued by the President of the United States against the sovereignty of the airspace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

This announcement, profoundly hostile, disproportionate and incompatible with international law, constitutes an act of political aggression that reaffirms Washington's imperial conduct against the free peoples of Latin America.

ALBA denounces that this threat is part of a geopolitical design aimed at eroding the self-determination of Latin American and Caribbean States through military, economic and diplomatic pressures. Attempting to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction over Venezuelan territory, to impose orders or to condition the integrity of its airspace, is not only illegal, but it constitutes an arrogant provocation against the entire region. It is the reaffirmation of an old pattern: that of those who still believe they have the right to dictate rules about our skies, our borders and our destiny.

In the same way, it alerts the international community that this offensive coincides with the unilateral decision of the United States Government to suspend regular flights intended for the repatriation of Venezuelans within the framework of the Mission Back to the Fatherland. This action, which directly affects families, children and migrant workers, confirms that Washington is willing to manipulate the migratory drama as an instrument of political blackmail. It is morally unacceptable, legally unsustainable and humanly reproachable.

ALBA states with absolute clarity: the threat against Venezuela constitutes a threat against all sovereign states in the region. To attempt to militarily intimidate a sister country is to attempt to intimidate all of Latin America and the Caribbean. And in the face of this, nations will not retreat or allow the reinstatement of imperial guardianships over our continent.

With the historic strength of Bolívar, Martí, Sucre and Sandino, the Bolivarian Alliance reaffirms that its peoples will know how to defend their sovereignty and overcome any attempt at domination.
