The
executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America—People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Rander Peña, held
a meeting this Tuesday with 534 leaders of political parties and
social movements from 68 countries around the world, to reaffirm international solidarity in the face of threats and actions from the United States (USA).
Through his social
networks, Peña indicated that “it was a space for reflection and
collective action, where we confirm that the truth and dignity of our peoples cannot be silenced
.”
He explained that they addressed
issues such as the complaint of the Heroine Mother Movement against the
kidnapping of more than 66 Venezuelan children by the United States, “one of the most serious
violations of human rights and human dignity, which requires condemnation and visibility in
every corner of the planet.”
They also
condemned Washington's attempts to break the Proclamation of
Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace (Havana, 2014), through threats
against peace in the region. “North American interventionism tries to
bring the region back to times of invasions and guardianships that have already been
defeated by the struggle of our peoples,” criticized Peña.
During the
meeting, the Secretary of the integration block described as mythomaniac the
statement of the US Attorney General, Pamela Bondi, who announced “a
reward of 50 million dollars for the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.
A legal and political aberration that offends not only Venezuela, but
the entire region that defends sovereignty and international law.”
Finally, Peña
said, the participants in the videoconference meeting rejected
the new attempt of North American imperialism to use those who were
once militant on the left, “but were captured and infiltrated through
NGOs, to sow division and fracture in our popular movements.”
“This meeting
reaffirms that international solidarity cannot be given up or bought. That, in
the face of every aggression, the voice of free peoples emerges stronger, united in the
defense of peace, sovereignty and social justice,” he emphasized.
