The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) issued an official statement this Monday, expressing concern about the attack of which the president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales, was the victim.
Through the letter, the Alliance repudiated this act of violence and expressed its support for the investigation process ordered by Morales.
Below is the full text of the statement:
The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) are following closely the situation in the Plurinational State of Bolivia and express their deepest concern over the complaint made by former President Evo Morales regarding an attempt on his life.
The ALBA-TCP repudiates all acts of violence and supports the thorough investigation ordered by President Luis Arce to clarify the facts.
In addition, the ALBA-TCP once again urges the parties in Bolivia to sit down and unite their strengths and capacities for the benefit of Bolivians, through sincere dialogue, that contributes to the prosperity and tranquility of the nation, and prevents the escalation of a conflict induced, most likely, by third parties who are enemies of the peace and sovereignty of our peoples.
The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance call once again for the necessary reunion, to avoid measures that harm the population, and make available to Bolivia all the will and capacities of the ALBA-TCP to facilitate the path of peace and understanding.
