ALBA-TCP urges to coordinate “without interference” efforts to achieve peace in Haiti

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) urged this Wednesday to coordinate international efforts to achieve peace in Haiti, in the face of the wave of violence that the Caribbean country is experiencing.

In a statement, the regional integration agency expressed “its concern about the serious and prolonged situation” in the nation, stressing that “recent acts of violence deepen the crisis and make it more urgent for a Haiti-led solution that encompasses a comprehensive dialogue between civil society and political actors.”

The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) express their concern about the serious and prolonged situation in the Republic of Haiti.

The recent acts of violence deepen the crisis and make it more urgent for a Haitian-led solution that encompasses a comprehensive dialogue between civil society and political actors. It is imperative that peace, democracy and the necessary security conditions be restored in the country.

The Bolivarian Alliance reiterates the need to coordinate efforts so that, through mechanisms of effective cooperation, without interference, sister Haiti can achieve the definitive path to peace and resolve the humanitarian needs of its people.
