AN approves Social Security Pension Protection Act against the Imperialist Blockade

The National Assembly, in its second discussion, unanimously approved the Bill for the Protection of Social Security Pensions against the Imperialist Blockade.

The purpose of this Act is to establish mechanisms to protect pensioners negatively impacted by unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States Government and its European allies.

The debate was initiated by Deputy Diógenes Linares (PSUV/National), who thanked the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for continuing the dignity of older adults, begun by Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, just as the Bolivarian Government has incorporated Venezuelans into the benefit of social security pensions, which today translates into more than five million Venezuelans.

“This AN is the continuation of the large number of achievements for older adults, such as the Organic Law for the Integral Care and Development of Older Adults, so that there is a giant advance in this process with older adults in the current revolutionary process,” he said.

The legal regulations establish that the President of the Republic may exempt from paying, in whole or in part, the special contribution provided for by law to special taxable persons and strategic sectors for foreign investment and national development.
