A parliamentary committee, headed by the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, attended the Miraflores Palace to notify the Head of State of the installation of the Legislative Power for the period 2025-2026.
During the event, Rodríguez emphasized that this notification responds to what is established within our legal system. In this regard, he affirmed that, in accordance with the provisions of our constitution, it is mandatory that the Legislative Power be installed every January 5.
“This is a parliamentary committee that is represented by the entire political spectrum that lives within the National Assembly and we are here in the People's Palace to inform you that parliamentary sessions have been installed for the period 2025-2026", he said.
On the other hand, the president of the Legislative Branch emphasized that 2024 was “a very rich year in the development of parliamentary work”, while reporting that during the past year 18 laws were enacted.
Among the most important legal instruments that were sanctioned, according to Rodríguez, are the Organic Law for the Defense of Guiana Essequiba; the reform of the Organic Law of Popular Power; the Law of Communal Peace; the Liberator Simón Bolívar Organic Law; among others.
