AN paid posthumous tribute to the mother of Mayor Carmen Meléndez

With a minute of applause, the Plenary of the National Assembly (AN) paid posthumous tribute to Mrs. Sofía Rivas, mother of the mayor of the Libertador municipality, Carmen Meléndez, who died this Tuesday, February 18, at 89 years of age.
At the beginning of the regular session held at the Federal Legislative Palace, the deputy Carmen Zerpa, in a right of speech, expressed her condolences to Mayor Meléndez, and requested the tribute in order to say goodbye to “the hardworking and temperamental woman who, with her love and commitment, worked until her last days in favor of the Bolivarian Revolution.”
Zerpa explained how Sofía Rivas, for years, accompanied her children in their political growth, demonstrated this in every activity, in every word, in every strategic plan that promoted the Revolution.
“Let's give a minute of applause to say goodbye to this wonderful being who is leaving today at 89 years old, he left us, but he left us with a great commitment to continue working for the People and the Bolivarian Revolution,” he said.
