In the coming days, the National Assembly (AN) will hold the Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean, announced the president of the Legislative Branch, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, on the occasion of the presentation of the balance sheet of the facilities of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, by the second vice-president of the Parliament, deputy América Pérez.

In the regular session held at the Federal Legislative Palace, Pérez raised the need for all Caribbean parliaments to participate in the meeting based in Venezuela to discuss the threats posed by the United States military deployment in the region.

In this regard, he stressed that the Chamber will use all the necessary instruments to make peace prevail in the country. “We can give this first assessment of what the activities of this space have been, which is a great idea, which has become the center of political debate, social debate, economic debate, legal debate, debate that constitutes the greatest defense for peace, understanding peace as a conquest, as that element that unites the Venezuelan people,” he explained.

Pérez recalled that the Council was installed on September 16, and 25 State Councils and 22 have been constituted in sectors of national life, as well as more than 30 concrete work agreements, meetings and activities, including the aforementioned meeting in Venezuela.

For his part, Rodríguez, affirmed that it is not enough just to proclaim themselves as peaceful and peace-loving beings in Venezuelan territory, but that it is essential to prepare for the defense of that peace.

“There is no greater act of courage than the active defense of our condition as Venezuelans,” he said.

On the subject, the opposition deputy Timoteo Zambrano, assured that the Venezuelan parliament has provided timely answers to the people so that peace prevails in the nation through diplomacy, always responding to foreign attacks in a civilized manner.

He also confirmed his support for the call that the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, has made to all the parliaments of the Caribbean to hold a meeting to defend the sovereignty of all Latin American nations.

Zambrano stressed that the purpose of convening a meeting of all Latin American parliaments is to generate a unanimous rejection of U.S. threats in the Caribbean and recalled that such intimidation by the U.S. government is intended to illegally appropriate the country's natural resources.
