Anti-Fascist International condemned imperial threat against Venezuela (+statement)

The Anti-Fascist International condemned the imperial and neofascist threat against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, with which they intend to impose a naval blockade to try to steal Venezuelan oil.

“This action constitutes a crime against humanity, an open violation of international law and a direct attack on the sacred rights of peoples to exist, trade and develop freely,” said part of the statement.

The Anti-Fascist International condemns with the greatest firmness the imperial, supremacist and neofascist threat posed by North American imperialism against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, by seeking to block any oil tanker heading towards its territory. This action constitutes a crime against humanity, an open violation of international law and a direct attack on the sacred rights of peoples to exist, trade and develop freely.

This threat expresses one of the most horrendous, vulgar and dangerous forms of neofascism, the claim to decide who can trade and who cannot, who can live with dignity and who must be kneeled by force. It is the absolute denial of sovereignty, legality and humanity itself. The blockade as a political weapon reveals imperialism's profound contempt for human life and for any civilizing norm that limits its ambition for domination.

We say to Neo-Fascist imperialism that they will NOT be able to cope with the Bolivarian historical force, nor with the living blood that flows through the veins of the Venezuelan people, forged in centuries of struggle against colonialism and imperialism. This new aggression reaffirms the Bolivarian position of Venezuelans, their unwavering commitment to the unrestricted defense of sovereignty, self-determination and national dignity. Venezuela's resources belong exclusively to its people, and only the Venezuelan people have the right to dispose of them.

What is being tried today is to republish the dark past of the 20th century, when a weak, fearful and subordinate oligarchy handed over national wealth to North American imperialism. That time was defeated by popular conscience and will not return. Venezuela is no longer a colony, a protectorate or a spoil of war.
To pretend otherwise is to ignore the history, reality and sovereign will of a people determined to be free.

From the Anti-Fascist International, we urgently call on all social movements, political parties, popular organizations and democratic forces in the world to speak out clearly in the face of this criminal threat. Silence in the face of fascism is complicity. To defend Venezuela today is to defend the right of peoples to exist without blockades, without looting and without submission. Venezuela is not alone. The peoples of the world are rising up.

In the face of imperialism and neofascism, the answer will be collective, firm and conscious : THEY CANNOT.
