Devotees in the state of Anzoátegui are preparing to honor their patron saint, San Antonio de Padua, with an extensive program of activities that will begin on Saturday, May 31. The day will begin with a mass in the colonial temple of the historic center, followed by the traditional descent of the saint from the main altar, in an event of great significance for the religious community of the region.
For the first time, the celebration will include a pilgrimage on Sunday, June 1, departing from the San Antonio monument in Paso Real. The participation of many faithful is expected, who will walk the streets in an event that will strengthen the sense of devotion and cultural roots.
From June 2 to 7, San Antonio Street will become an artistic space with the sixth edition of the International Muralism Festival “Ciudad Mural”. As reported by Governor Luis Marcano, the event will bring together national and local artists to embellish the urban environment and promote community art.
The festivities will conclude with a tourist fair on June 12, 13 and 14, where visitors and residents can enjoy local products, typical cuisine and musical activities. The event seeks to energize the regional economy and strengthen the cultural identity of the population.
Authorities and organizers highlight the importance of these celebrations as spaces of integration, in which tradition, culture and faith converge in a collective manifestation. With this program, Anzoátegui reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of its customs and the promotion of religious tourism.
