This Wednesday, the neoliberal and far-right government in Argentina called on the public administration to begin retirement procedures for all state workers who meet the requirements established in a new resolution attached to the chainsaw plan.

According to Argentine media outlet Page 12, the Minister of State Deregulation and Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, instructed public sector entities to “intimidate” employees to start retiring.

The Deregulation Authority estimates that the measure would reach about 10,000 public employees, of whom about 6,500 belong to the permanent plant.

“The owners of the entities are instructed (...) to instruct, within a period not exceeding thirty business days from the publication of this resolution, personnel who meet the established conditions (...) to initiate administrative procedures in order to enter the pension system,” says resolution 2, published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette.

To carry out mass retirees, the Ministry of Deregulation signed an agreement with the National Social Security Administration, so that body can determine who is in a position to complete the procedure.

The Government had announced the dissolution of the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) and its replacement with a smaller structure, with 34 percent less staff than the current structure, as well as the cut of 3,000 jobs.
