This Wednesday, a group of people with disabilities and their families began a “candle vigil” in the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, Argentina to demand that deputies reject the veto of the Neoliberal President Javier Milei of the Disability Emergency Law. The demonstration is backed by a court ruling that stated that the “right of children with disabilities prevails over budgetary issues”.

According to detailed information from Telesur, the court in the town of Campana, which heard protection from relatives, described the government's argument of “there is no money” as “fallacious”, since the law empowers the Executive to make the necessary budgetary modifications to secure funding.

Families camping in the square will join a larger march called for this Wednesday by the State Workers Association and other organizations. The mobilization seeks to pressure the deputies to revoke the veto, which will be debated this very day in Congress.

On June 10, 2025, the Senate approved the bill that declares a disability emergency until December 31, 2027, a regulation that already had half the sanction of Deputies.
