Argentine educators' unions called for a new strike for next Monday, in response to the decision of the government of the extreme right Javier Milei to boycott negotiations for the national educational parity, the Telesur website reported this Thursday.

The conveners are the teaching unions integrated into the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), among which the Union of Argentine Teachers (UDA) and the Confederation of Argentine Educators (CEA) stand out.

The general secretary of the UDA, Sergio Romero, said that the National Executive intends to drain the burden on the provinces of their responsibilities while taking away the contribution of the National Teacher Incentive Fund, which represents between 15% and 20% of workers' salaries.

In the objective of reaching zero fiscal deficit, the Argentine Government has made drastic cuts in public spending, eliminating the Fonid, resources that were used by the provinces to strengthen teachers' salaries.
