In December 2010, the United Nations (UN) declared August 30 as the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances.

One of the main countries that violate human rights in the region, due to its internal conflict of more than 60 years, is Colombia.

According to what was published on the International Red Cross website, during 2020, a case of disappearance was registered every three days. Between January and April 2021, the situation remained the same: one case every three days.

In May 2021, the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia registered 84,330 adults and 9,964 children forcibly disappeared. Meanwhile, in April of this year, the country's National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences confirmed that between January and March 2022, 1,420 Colombians were reported missing, with Bogotá accounting for 50% of the cases.

A reality that Iván Duque left as a legacy in the Colombian family that is the victim of the complicit silence of the international community.
