The 5th Extraordinary Meeting of the National Council for Aquatic Spaces (CNEA) was held to discuss and develop strategies focused on port restructuring and maritime reorganization. The meeting took place at the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base, located in the state of Miranda; with the participation of national authorities, in collaboration with the private sector and the Community Power.
During the meeting, the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, encouraged the rational use of the Venezuelan maritime area, which covers more than 710,000 square kilometers; in order to boost the nation's productive apparatus.
In addition, the ministerial official emphasized that more than 90% of world trade is carried out by sea, and therefore, the expansion of aquatic spaces is a fundamental task for the economic future of Venezuela; which requires concrete solutions that strengthen imports and exports.
Velásquez Araguayán also insisted that the concept of Blue Venezuela must transcend maritime professionals, and be integrated into the discourse of all citizens. This sustainable development approach promotes the creation of infrastructure for the surveillance, control and transportation of cargo and personnel.
Finally, the holder of the Transportation portfolio announced that the results of this meeting will serve as a first prelude to Expo Transporte 2025, which will take place starting this Thursday at the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base, La Carlota.
