“Baile en Candela” is declared Cultural Heritage of Venezuela.

The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, signed the inscription of the “Candle Dance” as Cultural Heritage of Venezuela.
Villegas explained that this dance, typical of Yaracuy, is celebrated by the believers of María Lionza and consists of men and women dancing and is practiced by the believers of María Lionza.
In this regard, the president of the Center for Cultural Diversity, Benito Irady, stressed that this is a very significant and important announcement, <because that cult that was born in Yaracuy has spread to all the states of Venezuela (...) it has also spread in the Caribbean”.
