The President of the United States (USA), Joe Biden approved the shipment of anti-personnel landmines to Ukraine, according to officials of his Administration to several North American media.
This type of weapons prohibited by the more than 160 countries that signed the Ottawa treaty, including those of the European Union and Ukraine, but neither the United States, the People's Republic of China, nor the Russian Federation are part of it.
North America expects Ukraine to use mines on its own territory and not to use them in areas populated by its own civilians, according to a source who asked not to be identified to the Washington Post.
Joe Biden's decision is framed in his plan to arm Ukraine before he leaves power in two months, Telesur said.
