Bolivarian Government activates special security measures to guarantee the holding of elections of the 25th

As part of the electoral process next Sunday, May 25, when deputies to the National Assembly and regional authorities will be elected, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela activated a set of special measures aimed at guaranteeing peace, public order and the security of the Venezuelan people during election day.

Through Joint Resolution No. 059690 and No. 030, signed by the Minister of People's Power for Defense, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, and the Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, preventive regulations are established that will be in effect from Friday 23 to Monday 26 May.

Announced measures:

• Border closure and control

From 12:01 a.m. on Friday the 23rd to 11:59 p.m. on Monday the 26th, land, sea and air border crossing is restricted, under the coordination of the CEOFANB, with the objective of preventing threats to national security.

Suspension of carrying weapons

The ban on carrying firearms and bladed weapons throughout the national territory is ratified, in accordance with the resolution in force since 2019.

• Dry law throughout the country

The sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages during the same period is prohibited. Security forces are authorized to close premises that violate these regulations.

Prohibition of public demonstrations

Any rally, march or public meeting that could alter the normal course of the electoral process is suspended.

Restriction of the use of heavy machinery

The transfer and operation of large tonnage equipment (such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, etc.) is prohibited, except in duly authorized contingency situations.

Control over pyrotechnic items

The sale of fireworks or solid fuel lifting devices is suspended from the 23rd until the morning of Monday, May 26th.

• Police deployment under operational control of CEOFANB

All police forces, both national, state and municipal, will be under the direct control and supervision of the Strategic Operational Command of the FANB. They can only act with the express authorization of that command.

Guarantee of the right to vote for police forces

Police officers may pay in staggered schedules to avoid mass absences of acting personnel. You will be allowed to attend voting centers in uniform, but without weapons.

These measures seek to preserve institutionality, citizen tranquility and the proper development of the electoral process, characterized by broad popular participation throughout the country.

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, the security bodies and the Electoral Power are advancing in perfect civic-military coordination to ensure that on May 25 the democratic will of the Venezuelan people is expressed in an environment of peace and legality.
