The National Government is developing a plan for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the National Educational Unit “Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi” in the state of Guayana Esequiba, for the benefit of the young people of that entity.
“Today, a comprehensive recovery of this school begins; an institution that, thanks to the efforts of the mayor's office, the community and our armed forces, has kept its doors open. Due to the high enrollment of up to 45 students per classroom, the infrastructure had a natural wear and tear that today we are dealing with to restore quality to our children's education,” said the governor of the entity, Neil Villamizar, who together with the minister of education, Héctor Rodríguez, and Deputy Minister Williams Gil, inspected the progress of these tasks.
In this regard, Villamizar highlighted the importance of integrating the new state into the rest of the national territory, stressing that the presence of Executive Branch agencies is key to providing concrete solutions to the needs of the area.
For his part, the holder of the educational portfolio emphasized that the absolute priority of the Bolivarian Government is to ensure that no child in the country is left out of the education system.
Rodríguez reported that, at the national level, enrollment has risen from 5.5 million to more than 6 million students. Specifically for the Guayana Esequiba state, a goal of 23,000 students has been set, of whom 20,000 have already registered.
In the same way, he made a special appeal to families about the importance of maternal and preschool education. “From 0 to 7 years old, the process of body and brain growth is decisive. We need to raise awareness: if the child stays at home, it should be to receive attention and stimuli, not to be in front of a screen. Initial education is the basis of life,” the minister explained.
