Bolivarian Government Authorities Award Winners of the 12K Race for Peace and Life

The Head of Government of the Capital District, Nahun Fernández, presented the medals to the winning athletes of the 12K Race for Peace and Life, which took place in Caracas.

Sebastián López took first place in the marathon, followed by Carlos Briceño and José González.

The women's category was won by Edimar Brea, accompanied by Belgium Duque and Zuleyma Amaya.

“The marathon was a great success. Congratulations to all the runners and to those who did their bit to make it happen,” said Nahun Fernández.

The head of Government of the Capital District praised the participation of women in the Marathon. “I am impressed with the large number of women who ran.”

He also expressed his willingness to continue organizing more marathons in the city of Caracas. “People are heeding the call of the sports and cultural agenda,” he said.

“We believe in happiness, in joy, and in the National Union of our people,” he added.

For his part, Meléndez said: “With all the joy and sportsmanship that characterizes us, this race took place, in which people of all ages participated in different categories, from children, young people, adults, to grandparents and athletes with disabilities.”

More than 600 athletes participated in the activity, who started from Puente Llaguno, toured Plaza La Candelaria and Plaza Venezuela.
