At an event held in the San Pedro parish of the Capital District, local authorities delivered two important rehabilitated works, such as: the San Pedro road tunnel and the Basilica of St. Peter the Apostle, as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and preserve the city's architectural and religious heritage.

For the work of the Basilica of St. Peter the Apostle, waterproofing, painting, installation of luminaires, wall remodeling, demarcation, as well as repair of cracks and fissures, and adaptation of visiting areas, among others, were carried out.

This project has been implemented through the “Together Everything Is Possible” Plan. The activity was led by the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, who personally supervised the work, accompanied by the deputy of the National Assembly, Nicolás Maduro Guerra, and the head of government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández.

During the delivery of the tunnel, Nahum Fernández stressed the importance of this work to improve mobility in the city. “We are here delivering this rehabilitated tunnel, which connects Victoria Avenue with the San Pedro church, so that the people of Caracas have better road conditions,” he said. The works included asphalting, lighting, sanitation of the areas, among others.

For his part, the deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra highlighted the historical and architectural value of the Basilica of St. Peter the Apostle. “This basilica, located in Caracas, is a replica in smaller proportions of St. Peter's Basilica in the Fifth Vatican. Today we deliver it with love for the people of Caracas to enjoy.”

In addition, Meléndez emphasized the meaning of these deliveries. “Today we achieved the dedication of this church, working with love and dedication. Caracas families have visited the city's seven temples in complete safety, celebrating this tradition in peace and harmony.”

These works represent a joint effort by local authorities to improve infrastructure and preserve the cultural and religious heritage of Caracas, to favor the community and thus strengthen spaces for encounter and spirituality.
