This Thursday, October 16, the Bolivarian Government inaugurated the first Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the state of La Guaira, to guarantee specialized medical care for children in the coastal region.
During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, emphasized that this work represents a transcendental advance in the social protection of children in the country. He also emphasized the commitment of the National Executive to the welfare of the Venezuelan people. “President Nicolás Maduro entrusted us with the task of reopening these spaces so that we can have this critical medicine service for our pediatric patients. It is a significant step in the midst of the difficulties imposed by the economic blockade, demonstrating that we continue to unlock critical knots to guarantee the right to health,” he said.
For her part, the single health authority in La Guaira, Dr. Nelare Bermúdez, explained that investment in high-tech equipment exceeds 500 thousand dollars. Added to this figure is the adaptation of the hospital infrastructure and the training of specialized medical personnel who will be on permanent duty.
“This unit, which until now has not existed in both the public and private systems of the state, is paying off a historic debt with our boys and girls, ensuring their care in highly complex cases such as traumatic brain injuries and septic processes,” Bermúdez explained.
The new unit, as reported by the Ministry of Health, is located in the Rafael Medina Jiménez Hospital in Pariata.
