The Bolivarian Government is dealing with rain damage due to the passage of tropical waves 31 and 32 in the municipalities of San Cristóbal, Andrés Bello, Junín and Torbes in the state of Táchira.

The information was released by Yesnardo Canal, director of Civil Protection, who noted that “the reports handled reflect only material losses.”

He highlighted the implementation of maneuvers to rescue six people in the Torbes municipality, Torondoy sector, due to the sudden increase in Quebrada La Aza and Caño Picho.

During this emergency, officials from that municipal administration acted together with Táchira Civil Protection rescuers, who joined forces to create a horizontal movement system with the use of ropes called “zipline”.

Canal reported that there were damages in the El Rio neighborhood, due to mass displacement.

There was also an increase in the flow of the La Cordera stream in the Sugarloaf sector, temporarily affecting passability in the Andrés Bello municipality.

Another situation occurred in the municipality of Junín when the waters of the Lucateva ravine swept away a vehicle from which fortunately its driver was unharmed.

In these sectors that represent precedents, a permanent alert is maintained, according to the georeferenced areas.

Canal also noted that in accordance with the guidelines given by the governor of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, preventive and security agencies will be on alert with the arrival of new tropical waves, as the rainy season is expected to last until the month of November.
