Bolivarian Government launched the Penitentiary Defense and Justice Plan in Zulia

This Monday, February 17, the Bolivarian Government initiated the Penitentiary Defense and Justice Plan, currently under process, in the western region of the country, which includes the states of Falcón, Lara, Yaracuy and Zulia.

This was reported in statements to the media by the general public defender, Daniel Ramírez Herrera, who pointed out that the objective is to guarantee the human rights and due process of persons deprived of their liberty.

He highlighted the importance of this phase of the plan, which focuses on the care of those deprived of their liberty.

“We are installing in the western region, of course in the state of Zulia, Yaracuy, Lara and Falcón, this prison defense and justice plan in the trial phase, which involves the intermediate phase and the trial phase,” he said.

He noted that “last year, the Public Defense initiated the Penitentiary Defense and Justice Plan in the execution phase, which obtained important results.”

In this regard, he stressed that working in conjunction with the other institutions of the Justice System, such as the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), the Criminal Cassation Chamber, the Public Ministry, the Ministry of the People's Power of Penitentiary Service, the Ministry of the People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, “we were able to provide answers and review the causes of private and private cases of freedom that were in the execution phase”.

“We process different requests to these ministries, such as criminal records, psychosocial evaluations, SIIPOL records, so that these people can obtain an alternative form of serving their sentence,” he explained.

The Penitentiary Defense and Justice Plan is an initiative of the Bolivarian Government, whose objective is to guarantee the human rights of persons deprived of their liberty, as well as to improve prison conditions and promote the social reintegration of inmates.

On the other hand, on prison justice in the area of adolescent criminal responsibility, he stressed that it seeks to offer young people not only closer legal care, but also tools that help them to effectively reintegrate into society, so that free legal assistance has been provided to more than 40 adolescents from the Francisco de Miranda General Precursor Care Unit.

He specified that by the end of 2024, more than 4,000 prisoners and prisoners were prosecuted, who specified the necessary requirements for judges to rule.
